Summary

Ekhart Tolle's message is simple: living in the now is the truest path to happiness and enlightenment。 And while this message may not seem stunningly original or fresh, Tolle's clear writing, supportive voice and enthusiasm make this an excellent manual for anyone who's ever wondered what exactly "living in the now" means。 Foremost, Tolle is a world-class teacher, able to explain complicated concepts in concrete language。 More importantly, within a chapter of reading this book, readers are already holding the world in a different container--more conscious of how thoughts and emotions get in the way of their ability to live in genuine peace and happiness。

Tolle packs a lot of information and inspirational ideas into The Power of Now。 (Topics include the source of Chi, enlightened relationships, creative use of the mind, impermanence and the cycle of life。) Thankfully, he's added markers that symbolise "break time"。 This is when readers should close the book and mull over what they just read。 As a result, The Power of Now reads like the highly acclaimed A Course in Miracles--a spiritual guidebook that has the potential to inspire just as many study groups and change just as many lives for the better。 --Gail Hudson

I feel much lighter after reading this。 It re-opened some beliefs that seemed to have fallen asleep because of our hectic life。

Just seems a bit arrogant to me!Quotes“At the deepest level of Being, you are one that all that is”“You attract and manifest whatever corresponds to your inner state”“Your mind is an instrument, a tool。 It is there to be used for a specific task, and when the task is completed, you lay it down。 As it is, I would say about 80 to 90 percent of most people’s thinking is not only repetitive and useless, but because of its dysfunctional and often negative nature, much of it is also harmful。 Observe your mind and you will find this to be true。 It causes a serious leakage of vital energy。 This kind of compulsive thinking is actually an addiction。 What characterizes an addiction? Quite simply this: you no longer feel that you have the choice to stop。 It seems stronger than you。 It also gives you a false sense of pleasure, pleasure that invariably turns into pain。”“The pain that you create now is always some form of nonacceptance, some form of unconscious resistance to what is。 On the level of thought, the resistance is some form of judgment。 On the emotional level, it is some form of negativity。 The intensity of the pain depends on the degree of resistance to the present moment, and this in turn depends on how strongly you are identified with your mind。 The mind always seeks to deny the Now and to escape from it。 In other words, the more you are identified with your mind, the more you suffer。 Or you may put it like this: the more you are able to honor and accept the Now, the more you are free of pain, of suffering - and free of the egoic mind。 Why does the mind habitually deny or resist the Now? Because it cannot function and remain in control without time, which is past and future, so it perceives the timeless Now as threatening。 Time and mind are in fact inseparable。”“Once you have identified with some form of negativity, you do not want to let it go, and on a deeply unconscious level, you do not want positive change。 It would threaten your identity as a depressed, angry or hard-done by person。 You will then ignore, deny or sabotage the positive in your life。 This is a common phenomenon。 It is also insane。” 。。。more

What a fabulous book。 There is so much I would want to quote here from the book。Very difficult to practice though, especially when you're done reading it。 I guess I'm living too much from my head space。 I will keep trying though to remind myself that I need to live from my inner being, which is connected to all other living beings。 What a fabulous book。 There is so much I would want to quote here from the book。Very difficult to practice though, especially when you're done reading it。 I guess I'm living too much from my head space。 I will keep trying though to remind myself that I need to live from my inner being, which is connected to all other living beings。 。。。more

Do I recommend it?t> If you are a living breathing soul who can think then, yes, I highly recommend itttSummary and Flow of the Book? t> Power of Now is Spiritual Self Help Book。 To me this was religion re-defined, like no one ever put before, the same things I have learned all my life, made sense and I was able to implement in my life and like the book says it has had transformative changes in my life that will live with me forever。 t> One a Side note, I plan to give this book to my children as Do I recommend it?t> If you are a living breathing soul who can think then, yes, I highly recommend itttSummary and Flow of the Book? t> Power of Now is Spiritual Self Help Book。 To me this was religion re-defined, like no one ever put before, the same things I have learned all my life, made sense and I was able to implement in my life and like the book says it has had transformative changes in my life that will live with me forever。 t> One a Side note, I plan to give this book to my children as their religion。 t> Eckhart has written this book in a question/answer manner taking instances from his teachings through his years。 I really enjoyed that because after reading a paragraph, I would have that question in my head and I will find that it was answered next。 t> One of the unique thing about this book is that it starts by describing how to read it and throughout the book, it gives you space to pause and reflect on what you learnt。> If you are going to read this book, I highly recommend taking the time to read & absorb it。 If you don't, you are going to loose so much gold here。 What did I learn? tA way of life, how I was breathing wrong the entire time, how I could have passed my life without even realizing what living meant so I am grateful for this encounter t> Life in the Moment : Most of all the book teaches you that you should live in the present。 What it means is that, to live in the present, you should have no mind thoughts, which is something that never struck me。 The reason people indulge in Alcohol/Drugs is to reduce mind thoughts。 You only have this moment, and the only way I can live it is by being present here, having no mind thoughts> Pain Body : Each of one us has pain-body, which is referred to the feelings you carry。 There is no way to dissolve the pain as such。 Only thing you can do is acknowledge the pain, be a watcher of your pain, that's it, and that in itself will transmute your pain。 I know this sounds strange but it works。 I don't know why but after I acknowledge all the feelings inside me, in sometime it is no longer inside me, the problem might not be solved, but it doesn't bother me any longer > Growth Happens through Suffering : Spiritual Growth most of the times these days happens through suffering。 That is the only way you are forced in a situation where if you have to get out of it, your only way out of pain is learning。 That is why I understand why I could not relate to the same things are a 20 year old girl because I had no pain to work through all of this ttFrankly, every sentence in this book is a source of truth so I am leaving here two of my major takeaways。 。。。more

Some of the most empowering, insightful, and uplifting information I have ever found。 Eckhart Tolle makes an excellent contribution to the study of life & spirituality。

I thought this book was an interesting approach to spirituality and being present。 There are some parallels that Tolle makes to Christianity as well as bringing in insight from other religions。 I liked the examples given to analyze and further break down the thought provoking ideas that were presented。 I do wish however that there was more actionable items, but that’s just personal preference。

A bit heavy on the Christian vibes, but ignoring that, I did find it helpful for things like acceptance and learning how to enjoy the present moment。

I am grateful for this book, teach me to focus on the present, and how psychological time is obsolete in the power of now。 The past and future no longer matters to me。 Only the presence of now is what matter。

I truly resonate with this book。 The parts in this book was parts I knew already but became clearer when seeing in the author’s perspective。 Enlightenment (finding the inner peace) is something I am working on, and I have more tools after reading this。 It is not an easy task to do, but all I can do is be in the now。 I am not my pain-body。 I am not the sob stories and all the negative thoughts my mind created。 I will not create more pain for myself。 The present/the Now is all I need, and I alread I truly resonate with this book。 The parts in this book was parts I knew already but became clearer when seeing in the author’s perspective。 Enlightenment (finding the inner peace) is something I am working on, and I have more tools after reading this。 It is not an easy task to do, but all I can do is be in the now。 I am not my pain-body。 I am not the sob stories and all the negative thoughts my mind created。 I will not create more pain for myself。 The present/the Now is all I need, and I already have the inner peace within。 When I hurt myself, I hurt the world。 。。。more

I liked it, but I couldn't help but to feel kind of let down。 I've heard so many great reviews about this book that I honestly thought it was going to be life changing - which made me set my expectations really high。 With that being said, it's a great book。 I have a feeling it will be one of those books that I will re-read every now and again because it does have a lot of extremely insightful and reassuring takeaways that are always good to have in mind as gentle reminders。 I will say you need t I liked it, but I couldn't help but to feel kind of let down。 I've heard so many great reviews about this book that I honestly thought it was going to be life changing - which made me set my expectations really high。 With that being said, it's a great book。 I have a feeling it will be one of those books that I will re-read every now and again because it does have a lot of extremely insightful and reassuring takeaways that are always good to have in mind as gentle reminders。 I will say you need to be open minded if you want to read this book, otherwise you will probably not enjoy it。 Although it wasn't exactly what I expected, I would 100% recommend it。 。。。more

To not allow the pain-body or the mind to constantly drive living and to instead live in a state of Being。 A place of consciousness, an heightened level of awareness to the Now。 Geesh, these concepts felt so real, so important, so critical to living a life in peace。 I loved the concepts and immediately began making small efforts to implement the concepts, even if it was just being aware of what was happening within my body as I read this book。 That said, this book is a book that I will definitel To not allow the pain-body or the mind to constantly drive living and to instead live in a state of Being。 A place of consciousness, an heightened level of awareness to the Now。 Geesh, these concepts felt so real, so important, so critical to living a life in peace。 I loved the concepts and immediately began making small efforts to implement the concepts, even if it was just being aware of what was happening within my body as I read this book。 That said, this book is a book that I will definitely reread and I’m certain that I will leave the reread with even more nuggets。 。。。more

Nobody chooses dysfunction, conflict, pain。 Nobody chooses insanity。 They happen because there is not enough presence in you to dissolve the past, not enough light to dispel the darkness。 You are not fully here。 You have not quite woken up yet。 In the meantime, the conditioned mind is running your life。

Simple to follow and easily one of the best books overall。 Applies to every day, work, personal life, relationships, money, emotions, everything that encompasses life。 It is almost like the holy books applied with no key figure instead to look inwards and be aware of anything that arises and watch it like a hawk。
